Obituary of Maxwell Everett Pond
SERGEANT M.E. POND, CD
The passing of Maxwell Everett Pond of Fredericton, NB, husband of Carol Myrtle (Jewett) Pond, occurred on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Veterans Health Unit. Born on February 19, 1939 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Garnet and Helen (Banks) Pond – Robertson. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces, at the age of 17 years, he was posted in Aylesford, NS, Summerside, PE, Shearwater, NS, Uplands, Ottawa, ON. Maxwell loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. After retiring, he worked in home construction for himself and for others; he also enjoyed working in the woods and around his property.
In addition to his wife, Maxwell is survived by his daughters, Barbara Regan (Dale) and granddaughter, Ashley Regan (Alex); Heather Walsh (Tom) and grandson, Brendan MaGee (Taylor); step children, Ann Hildebrand (Robert), Dan Merrithew (Marlene), Mitch Merrithew (Sadella), Randy Merrithew and Brenda Merrithew (Jason Gorman); ten step grandchildren; ten step great grandchildren. Max was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Henderson) and step son, Terry Merrithew (Linda).
Masks are required for all services. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 1-2 pm followed by the Memorial Service at 2 pm with Rev. Franklin Curtis officiating. Interment will take place in Upper Durham Memorial Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
