Obituary
Suddenly in the morning hours of March 12, Maxine passed away in her home in Kelowna. She is survived by her loving daughter Debbie (Ed), son Doug (Jacqueline) , grandchildren Taylor (Carol), Travis (Jenny) Mahalia and Braydon, her 4 great grandchildren, with the 5th expected in September, and extended family members.
She is predeceased by her husband Doug (1982) her sister Yvonne (2004) and companion Clay (2009)
Mom was born in Ponoka, lived in Sylvan Lake, then Red Deer Alberta, where she met her husband, Doug. From there they moved to Winnipeg, where both Debbie and Doug Jr. were born. The family then moved to Val D’Or Quebec, and in 1966 it was off to Richmond B.C., where Mom worked at The Bay, then B.C. Packers, and enjoyed her time and friendships volunteering with the ANAF ladies auxiliary in Steveston. Mom moved to Kelowna in 1992 to be closer to her kids and grandchildren.
Mom could be stubborn and feisty, but she had a great sense of humour, and was always a good sport when playing card games, board games, or when pranks were pulled on her. She loved her family, and her friends. She loved animals, and in particular the wildlife that visited her when she lived on the lake. She had a big heart and she will be missed.
A celebration of life will be planned for late spring or early summer.
We would like to give a very special Thanks to Mom’s angel Anita, her many friends at Legacy Towers, her niece Linda, Interior Health, and the RCMP.
