Maxine Catherine Grimes February 19th 2022

Maxine Catherine Grimes passed peacefully on February 19, 2022.
She was born May 10, 1929 in Clive, Alberta to Charles and Minnie McMillian (nee Thomas). There she met Harold, the love of her life, whom she married in 1946. Together they moved to Red Deer and began a family. They moved to Vancouver in 1955, and then Revelstoke in 1963. Although they spent a few years in Vernon and Lacombe, they always returned to Revelstoke. With their many close friendships, Revelstoke had become ‘home’.
After Harold passed, Maxine moved to Vernon where she could be closer to family. (Darlene, Jes & Jaxson)
Maxine was predeceased by Harold, her husband of 70 years in 2016, and oldest daughter Lorraine in 2017.
She is survived by daughters Darlene, Verlie (Bob), Debbie (Charlie), and Brenda (Germain) and son-in-law Keith. Also, grandchildren Leanne (Shawn), Shari (Mike), Ashley (Dave), Jessica, Arran (Teresa), Mathieu and Katie; great grandchildren Jaxson, Tyson, Jacob and Zelda.
Her family would like to thank Yolanda, Aurora and Orlin who lovingly cared and comforted Maxine (Mom) in the last months of her life, also Dr. Lindsey Hayward and the community care team of Interior Health.
A service will be held in Revelstoke this summer – an announcement will be made when arrangements have been finalized. She will be interred in the Revelstoke City Cemetery in a plot with Harold. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, which mom, as a cancer survivor, enthusiastically supported or the Revelstoke United Church, where she lovingly served with the United Church Women.

  1. We were deeply saddened to hear of Auntie Max’s passing. My Mom, Joan Wittchen, always joked that she was a month older than her aunt and I grew up hearing tales of their antics when they were girls. Whenever they got together it seemed more like they were sisters or maybe co-conspirators. They will all be missed.
Our sincerest sympathies go to her family and friends.
    Love,
    Judy, Brian and Brittany Woods
