Maxine Alice Stewart
1935-2022
Maxine Alice Stewart – 87, of New
Minas, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at home. Born in Seal
Harbor, Guysborough, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Ellen
Blanche (Reid) Langley. Maxine graduated from Payzant Memorial
Hospital School of Nursing, Windsor, in 1959 and was a Registered
Nurse for over 40 years. She had been employed at the Nova Scotia
Sanitorium, Kentville, until it closed in 1994 and then went on to
work at the Detox Unit in Kentville until her retirement in 2000. She
is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lawrence, a son Carman
(Kimberly), New Minas; a grandson, Christopher Hutt (Klarissa),
step-granddaughter, Ashlie (Matt) Maddison; step great granddaughters,
Taylor and Evereleigh; brothers, Donald, Walton; Wilbert (Janice),
Fall River; Brian (Marilyn), Prospect Bay and Binnie (Wanda), Bedford;
nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by a
son, Lawrence Derrick “Rick” in 2017. There will be
no visitation by request. The funeral Service will be held at 2:00
p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 in Gaspereau United Baptist Church,
Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A video webcast of the service
will be available at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Burial will
take place in the Willow Bank Cemetery. Donations in memory may be
made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Gaspereau
United Baptist Church. Funeral
