Maximien’s Obituary
MAXIMIEN JOSEPH DOUCET (July 27, 1929 – August 6, 2022)
DOUCET, Maximien Joseph of Weymouth passed away peacefully in La Villa Acadienne on August 6, 2022 at the age of 93. He was born in Weymouth on July 27, 1929 to the late Joseph and Ellen (Comeau) Doucet.
Maximien was loving, caring and devoted to his adoring wife of 34 years, Rosa, and to his family. He often mentioned how proud he was for the care that Rosa had given to him. Maximien would tell his friends that Rosa was so good to him.
Left to mourn are Rosa, his three sons and their families and his two step children and their families:
Son, Joseph (Karen) of Edmonton; and grandchildren, Stephane (Bita); and great-grandsons, Anif and Hakim, Yannick, Samuel (Brigitte) and Eric.
Son, Paul (Kathy) of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Emily (Curtis), Jacob, Hannah (Mick), Olivia and Maia (Ben).
Son, Micheal of Ottawa; and grandchildren, Jeffrey, Philip (Kristen); and great-granddaughter Rylee, Aaron (Anna); and their mother, Betty Lou Towlan of Ottawa.
Stepdaughter, Dianne (Chris) Baker of Upper Tantallon; and step-grandson, Dawson.
Stepson, Briand Comeau of St. Bernard; and step-grandsons, Gage and Aidan.
Maximien took great pride in his family. He encouraged them and celebrated their accomplishments, leaving them with many memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Maximien joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Reg. No. 15155) in 1948. He retired in 1972 as a Sergeant from the Force in Ottawa. For the next seven years he worked Security at the Bank of Canada in Ottawa.
Maximien returned to Weymouth in 1979 to take care of his ageing parents. He built a new home and had found a good wife. He enjoyed many hours in his woodworking shop. His skills as a perfectionist were evident in the items he produced.
Maximien attended St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Weymouth and his wood working skills can be seen in the pulpit, candle stands, tables and book stand as well as the kitchenette in the Hall.
Maximien had kept in contact with his special friend, Father Keith Billard, and had shared many visits and conversations with him at his home on Riverside Road.
The family would like to thank the Staff of La Villa Acadienne as well as Dr. Chandler for the care and respect given to Maximien.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. A funeral mass will take place in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Weymouth on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am with Father Keith Billard officiating. The Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. There will be a reception following the funeral at the Goodwin Hotel in Weymouth.
