Obituary of Maurice Whynder
Maurice “Buck” Whynder, 83 of North Preston (formerly of Kentville), passed away on August 31, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Preston, he was the son of the late Thomas and Eunice (Whynder) Simmonds.
In 1959, Maurice moved to the Valley to work on many farms. Later he gained employment with Standard Paving and LaFarge for over 30-years until his retirement.
He will be missed by many of his family and friends.
Maurice is survived by step-daughter, Michelle; son-in-law Kevin; brothers, Lloyd (Tracey), David (Venetia), and Charles; sisters, Jean, Althea, Zelma, Veronica, Sylvia (Keith), Adrian, Catherine, Marsha (Philmore); sister-in-law, Dolly; God-child, Leon Downey; aunts, Ethel, Winifred, Gloria, Margie, and Sylvia.
Maurice was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette Haynes-Whynder; step-daughter, Shannon; son-in-law, Andrew; sisters, Lois and Gwendolyn; brothers, Manifold, Earl, Jonathan, and Johnny (in infancy); brothers-in-law; Irvin, Louis, and Jim.

A visitation will take place on Sept 7, 2022 at 11:00 am, with a service to follow in Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date in Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
