Obituary
Maurice had just celebrated his 76th birthday on Jan 2nd, but around the 9th, he became a victim of this deadly COVID virus. He was in the hospital in ICU until his passing. Now we know he has gone to heaven to join his father and two brothers and a cousin. I’m sure if you listen you can hear them singing and playing their guitars.
Beloved husband of Brenda (nee Thomas) for 28 years. Loving father to Jim and Jeannine (Mick Sheer). Dear Brother to Philippe (Bonnie Ferguson) Albertine (Roger Martineau), Marcel (Monique Bolduc), Claude (Helen Sheward), Thérèse (Bob Burrell), Marguerite (Ron Haines), André Lacroix Gilberte Charbonneau (André Bilodeau), and Marguerite Charbonneau (Rivard). Predeceased by his father Gérard, mother Yvette (née Voyer), Philippe and Marcel Lacroix.
He will be greatly missed by Uncle Denis, Aunt Isabelle Boisvert and Aunt Candice Voyer in Timmins and Aunt Hélène in Montréal. He will also be missed by Brenda’s sister-in-law Joanne (Donato) Thomas and nieces Jennifer and Tracy, along with his many nieces and nephews.
Maurice was a loving and caring person who always was willing and at the same time wanted to help people especially those that needed it. His brother Marcel was struggling with dementia and so Moe would drive up to Cambridge every Wednesday sometimes accompanied with his brother Claude and they would spend a good part of the day with Marcel, and they would sing, and he even got him interested in playing the guitar again as he had not played in many years and had forgotten how to.
But Maurice had a lot of patience so that it was fun for the two of them and it also gave Marcel something to look forward to. Then sadly Marcel passed away on Jan 14th.
The pride of his life were his two children and his nine grandchildren: Tasha, Kayla, Katie, Lucas, JD, Nathan, Krissy, Alina, Noel, and our little princess Lily – our great-granddaughter. Anytime he would spend with them would always put a smile on his face. Maurice worked for Pepsi Bottling Group for 41 years. He will certainly be missed by his colleagues. He did work at Sacré-Coeur Church – cleaning, rebuilt the washrooms downstairs just to name a few. If they called him, you could guarantee that he was there for whatever the task was, or he would find help if it was something he couldn’t handle. He was also an usher at St. Leo’s Church for over 15 years. He was President of Lage D’or (which is a golden age club) for about 7 years at which time he had to resign due to health reasons.
His biggest dream was to own a 60-foot yacht and get his license to run it and drive wherever he wanted to go. He loved travelling and the outdoors, had a huge passion for dancing, singing, and playing his guitar.
Maurice you will be greatly missed, but to all of those you’ve touched through the years – We will remember you and hold you closely in our hearts. You have suffered enough, now go and rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donation in memory of Maurice to the War Amps, Trillium Hospital Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
