JACOBSON, Maureen
1945 – 2022
Mickey Jacobson was courageous, independent, high-spirited and an instant friend.
Mrs. Maureen ‘Mickey’ Jacobson passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the age of 77 years. Mickey spent most of her youth in Sangudo, Evansburg, and Edmonton, Alberta. She married Wesley Jacobson and they raised their two children in Drayton Valley, and Calgary. They retired to Birch Bay at Gull Lake, and then Ponoka, before eventually moving to Red Deer. Mickey especially enjoyed escaping the harsh temperatures in Alberta, and spent almost twenty years making new friends, golfing hiking, and line dancing in Arizona. She enjoyed cheesecake and paperback novels and would vacuum her front room in such a perfect pattern that her sons childhood friends were inspired to do snow angels in the carpet, just to mess with her. Her six-year journey with myeloma and kidney failure ended on her own terms, just as she lived her whole life. She chose to cease dialysis while she was able to make her own decisions and passed away after eight days in the care of the compassionate and dedicated staff of the Red Deer Hospice. Mickey will be truly missed by her husband of fifty-seven years, Wesley, her daughter, Sheila, her son, Curtis, and her grandchildren, Dylan and Ty. She will also be sadly missed by her two remaining siblings, Lynn Adams and Claire Lundrigan. There will be no Funeral Service, in accordance with Mickey’s wishes, but all are encouraged to cut themselves a piece of cheesecake, crack open a good book, and remember how Mickey’s crooked smile could light up a room. Mickey will be interred in the family plot at Sangudo, Alberta at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Mickey’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com to help provide the care, comfort, and support that they bring to families. “Thank you all”.
“Rest in peace Mickey. You will always be remembered by those whose lives you touched”.
