Maureen’s Obituary
LEE (Merlin), Maureen Elizabeth ~ of Windermere, Kings Co. The family regrets to announce that we lost Maureen after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, August 21, 2022. She will be missed by her family and close friends. At the age of 79 years old, Maureen was called to heaven to be held in the arms of her mother Margaret (Wilson) Merlin, whom she waited over 60 years to be hugged by again. She was also predeceased by her father, Alfred “Ross” Merlin; sisters, Margaret “Ann” Publicover and Mary Lynn Merlin; brothers, James Kenneth Merlin and Gerald Ross Merlin; also, many aunts and uncles that played a critical role in helping to guide her through life. She is survived by her only daughter, Maria (Jeff) Dicaire; her grandson, Matthew (Arin) Dicaire (baby Mickayla); and granddaughter, Hannah (Dustin) Martin (baby Islah). Maureen grew up in Windermere where she later lived with her husband, Allison Lee. Maureen was a stay-at-home mom for many years and after her daughter was established in elementary school went out to work. She worked at Fundy Villa as part of the house cleaning staff for 20 years. She enjoyed this work and the social interactions with the residents throughout the years. She made many friends and acquaintances along the way. Her favorite hobbies included crocheting, knitting and crossword puzzles. She was a loving mom and grandmother and loved her most recent “fur baby” Maggie. She enjoyed her camp at Lake Paul recording visitors with special stories, seasonal changes, the birth of the baby loons and Allison’s fishing adventures. We want to thank the caregivers at the Dickson Building in Halifax, Valley Regional Hospital and Valley Hospice in Kentville, her family doctor Carly McLellan and the various doctors and “Angel” staff working at the Valley Hospice for creating a loving and caring environment for Maureen during her hard-fought battle with Cancer. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend a graveside service at 2 p.m., Friday, August 26, in Morristown Cemetery, with Rev. Sarah Scott officiating. Please feel free to bring a lawn chair or umbrella to the service. Donations will be appreciated in Maureen’s memory to Valley Hospice Foundation or Windermere Community Hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
