Obituary
NICKERSON, Maureen Beatrice – 74, of Stoney Island, passed away on October 23, 2022, at Bay Side Home, Barrington. Born November 18, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Orville and Edna (Ross) Ross. Maureen loved her family, anyone that knew her, knew her as Nannie Maureen. She took her grandchildren on many adventures; annual trips to the valley to pick strawberries, and to play ball, and hockey. She enjoyed making baby quilts and gardening. She took great pride in the many bushes planted around her yard, especially her plum and cherry trees. Maureen loved to bake, she took cake decorating classes and her family always looked forward to one of her delicious chocolate cakes on their birthday. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Tom) Hatfield; brother, Hubert (Carolyn) Ross; sisters, Audrey Smith, Isabele Tower; grandchildren, Shauna (Aaron) Brannen, Kevin Hatfield, Gabrielle (Chad) Robicheau, Autumn (Jarvis Kenney) Hatfield; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abigail, Kylen, Amelia, Koen, Asher, Abram, Alexander, and Jude. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alton Roger Nickerson; daughter, Laurie Loraine Nickerson; brothers, James Ross, Cecil Ross, Sterling Ross; sisters, Elaine Quinlan, and Susie Smith. The family would like to take this time to give a special ‘thank you’ to the staff at Bay Side Home for their care. There will be a visitation held on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27, at 1 pm with Rev Jason Parker officiating. Interment to follow in the Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island. Memorial donations may be made to the Clark’s Harbour Elementary School Breakfast Program or to a charity of your choice.
