Matthew Mark Daye-Gardner
On August 18th we lost a bright light in our lives. Matthew Mark Daye-Gardner passed away in his home in Athens. Matthew was 25 years old. Matthew loved the outdoors, using his bushcraft skills to build shelters. He played guitar and drums; he was a skateboarder and stunt bike-rider. He loved heights and was fearless. He had played both baseball and soccer in his younger years, excelling at both.
He was passionate about animals and especially his two dogs, Vinnie and Dime. He is survived by his mother, Sally Gardner, his brothers Paul and Andrew Gardner, his beloved Taya Baker, his aunt Angela Gardner, sister-in-law Jacquie Gardner and nieces and nephews Max, Gwen, Grace, Olivia and Sebastian.
We are all shattered by our loss but will go on to keep his memory alive.
Matt’s celebration of life will be held at the Athens Free Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 30 at 11 am followed by a small luncheon. Additional plans for the day will be released at the celebration.
