Mary Mihajic (Carr)
The family sadly announces, Mary’s passing at Pioneer Manor, Sudbury, Wednesday Apr 13th, 2022 at the age of 97. Daughter of the late Peter Carr and late Annie (nee Hayden) Carr. Beloved wife of 66 years to the late John Mihajic (2015). Loving mother of Ronald (Isabel), James, Nancy Lahaie (Edmond) and Peter. Proud grandmother “Nona” of Karrie (Shawn), Greg (Dawn), Tracy (Chris) and Lisa (Baris). Great-grandmother of Sarah, Kayla, Hannah, Nova, Laurel and great-great-grandmother of Grayson. Mary was born in Silo, Croatia. Predeceased by her brothers, John (late Irene) of Sarnia and James (late Glenna) of Winnipeg. She immigrated with her parents Annie and Peter Carr at 6 years old and they lived in Niagara Falls. Mary worked in a factory for 7 0before she met and married John. They at first only communicated by letter, met, and married not long after. John got a job working at Inco in Levack, where they raised their family. Mom was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, The Royal Purple/Elks Club contributing many hours. They also enjoyed close friends and attended many potlucks/card games at the Golden Age Club. Mary and John made return trips to Croatia after John retired where they visited family and also took family vacations back to the Falls. Most of all they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. Many thanks to the caring staff at Pioneer Manor. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no visitation. The family will gather at Maplecrest Cemetery for Interment at a later date.
