CONCORD, NH-
Mary Louise (Wilson) Woodland, 80, of Concord, NH, formerly of Canada, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022 with her loving husband, Guy Malcolm Woodland, holding her hand. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on December 1, 1942. She was daughter of the late Edward and Esther (Robson) Wilson.
She grew up in New Brunswick and graduated from Saint John High School.
Mary worked for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, now, CNIB Foundation and at Sears in Canada. She was an advocate for the deaf-blind.
Mary and her husband Guy, of 52 years, moved to New Hampshire in 1999 and achieved dual citizenship in 2007.
Mary was a strong, petite, thoughtful and caring person. Mary always wanted to help those who were disadvantaged. She enjoyed reading, cooking and riding her scooter.
Mary and Guy spent their summer vacation, for several decades, visiting historic lighthouse locations around the Bay of Fundy. Mary’s parents spent their working years as resident lighthouse caretakers. This was fitting, as Mary was a beacon of light to her family and many lifetime friends.
In addition to her husband Guy, Mary is survived by her brothers and sisters and their families all of Canada; Trudy Tayler of Saint John, Tracy Saunders of Saint John, Ellen Wilson of Saint John, Sally McAllister of Fredericton, Marty Nowlin of Ste- Antoine (Mary’s twin), Mark Wilson of Calgary, Larry Wilson of Spruce Grove and Shane Wilson of Saint John. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sisters Faith, Rebecca and Nancy predecease her.
At Mary’s request, her ashes will be placed in St. John’s Church Columbarium in Moschelle, Nova Scotia, Canada at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Mary’s name can be made to Granite VNA (granitevna.org), Future In Sight (futureinsight.org) or Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) (cnib.ca.). Arrangements have been entrusted to Bennett Funeral Home of Concord, NH. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bennettfuneral.com
