Balog, Mary Katherine
Peacefully passed away at the Niagara Health–Welland Site on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late James Balog. Forever in hearts of her loving sons Andrew and the late Gary. Mary will be missed by her nieces and nephews; Wendy, Rick (Cindi), Sue (Al), great-niece Tawni (J.P) and their daughter Stella. Also, dear friends, Sue Mariage and Diana Burger who remained by her side like family, sharing outings with her to Tim Horton’s or Lily’s Cuisine. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Caroline Zipfl, brother Joe Bailey and lifelong friends; Ollie Hornsey, Rose (George) Turpin, Irene (Les) Sumbler, and Dorothy Vasas.
We can’t thank her friends enough for the love and quality they added to her life. Mary’s other interests were watching figure skating and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. Mary was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church and the Catholic Women’s League.
Thank you for the care and compassion in the ER and 6th floor of the Welland Hospital.
At Mary’s request cremation has taken place, a private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
