Obituary of Mary Deborah Godard
November 21, 1948 – Glace Bay, Nova Scotia
October 9, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
Today we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Sister, Auntie, Grandmother, and Dear Friend Debbie (Brown) Godard, on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the age of 73 years.
Debbie’s full and beautiful life began when she was born into her big and loving family on November 21,1947, in Glacé Bay, Nova Scotia.
When the Brown family moved to Toronto, Debbie seized an opportunity to start her lifelong career in the insurance industry. Though, through her many achievements, the highlight of her time in Ontario was meeting the love of her life, Jim Godard.
Inseparable, Jim and Debbie enjoyed their life together to the fullest. Their biggest joy of all was the birth of their son Cody. The three of them shared so many good times, often at their favorite place, The Godard Cottage.
After the loss of her beloved husband Jim, she and her son Cody moved out west to Alberta, where Debbie continued to make joyous memories spending her time with her son Cody, sister Patsy, niece Ashley (Scott), Great Nephew John (JD) and his son Xavier, as well as her many close friends.
She will be deeply missed and will continue to live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her so dearly.
She is survived by her son Cody, grand children Aubrey and Austin, sister Patsy, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lorn Brown and Sonia, Keith Brown and Linda, Troy Brown and Arlene, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Debbie was predeceased by her loving husband Jim Godard, as well as her parents Jessie and Patrick Brown; her brothers, Johnny, and Dwight; and her brother-in-law, Keith.
Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
