Obituary of Mary Susan Meehan
Mary Susan Meehan (nee Lillie) June 24 1945 – March 17 2022
Surrounded by her loving family, Mary Susan peacefully passed away Thursday, March 17th 2022 at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton at the age of 76. Loving wife of Paul Meehan, with whom she shared 55 joyous years. Loving mother of Cameron (Mary), Tony, Kimberly (Todd Bloomfield) and proud grandmother of Hannah, Lillie and Olivia. Loving sister to Patricia (Dario) and David. Predeceased by parents (Robert and Jean) and brothers Robert and Harry. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Before moving to Beamsville, Ontario in 2000, Mary Susan spent many enjoyable years in Sudbury where she proudly raised her family. She was a fixture at the local A&P/Metro, not only as an employee for many years, but also as their union steward. She was a strong union negotiator for the local UFCW, where she worked tirelessly to represent the best interests of her colleagues.
The family would like to thank the staff and physicians of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, ICU and MSDU. Your compassion and caring for Mary Susan and her family will not be forgotten. Thank you to Dr. James Woodland for staying in touch with the family and his compassionate care.
As per Mary Susan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. However, a celebration of life will be organized for this summer.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation, Hamilton (specify the Fire Stone Institute of Respiratory Health) www.stjoesfoundation.ca
