Obituary
Mary Rose Hayden
1931 – 2022
Mary Hayden (Mary Rose) passed away peacefully at the Clearwater Centre in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on June 23, 2022 with her daughter at her bedside.
She is survived by her five children, who both challenged her and brought her great joy, Jeffery Burkard, Jolene Burkard (Jimmy), Cameron Burkard, Darren Burkard (Cynthia), and Neil Burkard (Diana). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Katelyn, Braeden & Hillary Clark, Samantha & Elizabeth Burkard.
Mary was born on April 17, 1931 on the family homestead in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, the youngest of six children. She was predeceased by spouses, Jerome Burkard and Robert Hayden; parents, Axel and Elizabeth Anderson and five siblings, Gordon, Kenneth and Raymond Anderson as well as her two sisters, Angela Vetsch and Millie MacDonald.
Mary was a remarkable woman with a keen business sense who enjoyed dancing, gardening, going on road trips, attending church services and making quilts to keep her family warm. Even in her elderly years she maintained her sense of humor and fun. She loved poetry, history and relaying stories. She loved to tease and stir things up. She provided her family, friends and staff at the Good Sam many opportunities for smiles and some hearty chuckles. She will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (5113 49 Ave, Wetaskiwin, Alberta) on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Wetaskiwin (Old) Cemetery. Following interment, a reception will be held at the Wetaskiwin Seniors Centre (5216 54 Street, Wetaskiwin, Alberta).
