Mary Rosa Hood
1925-2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing our dear mom,
Mary Rosa Hood on May 2, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born October
3, 1925, the daughter of the late Walter ‘Lee’ Brewer and
Myrtle Gourley. She was predeceased by her husband, the love of her
life, Gordon Hood on February 13, 1990.
Mary is survived by her children, Connie Dunham (Lawrence), Ginnie
Stairs (Cecil), Joanne McCullough (Paul), Albert Hood, Cathy MacKinnon
(Malcolm), Lois Hood-Fraser (Dale), Patricia Chase (Randy) and Michael
Hood (Holly); eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren
and three great great grandchildren, who she loved and adored;
sisters-in-law, Barbara Embleton and Roxie Hood; several nieces and
nephews.
Mom was the last surviving member of the Lee Brewer family. In
addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a
granddaughter Cassandra (Thornton) Long; a daughter-in-law Jo-Ann Hood
and several Hood sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Mom was a fun-loving person who enjoyed outings with her friends,
going to Seniors Club and Card Parties. She looked forward to family
gathering. She loved her Homemakers who she called ‘her
girls’, and as a family, we appreciated these ladies and the
comfort and care they gave to our mom. Thank you from the bottom of
our hearts. We also want to thank Hospice Fredericton for the
wonderful accommodations and the nursing staff for the amazing care
that they gave our mom and also to us, her family.
Visitation will be held at Swan Funeral Chapel, 1826 Route 3, Harvey
Station, NB on Friday evening from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be
held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2 pm from the funeral chapel with her
son Albert officiating. Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Mary, the family
has suggested Hospice Fredericton or Pine Grove Cemetery.
