Oliver, Mary Alice “Pinky” – 64, Georgefield. Passed away at her daughter’s home in Bass River. Born in Antigonish, she was a daughter of the late Errington and Martina (Grace) Cooke of Argyle, Guysborough County. She is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Matthew) Meredith, Joan Oliver-Blackburn, Emily Grace Oliver (John); son, Barry Oliver; dogs, Queenie and Lady, who were like her children; grandchildren, Brenton, Paul, Brandon, Rebecca and Liam. She was predeceased by her husband, Brian and sister, Nancy. Pinky was a dedicated employee of the East Hants Waste Management Center Scale House, where she worked for many years and got to know and love her community. She was also a member of the East Hants Late Bloomers Garden Club. She was known for all her flowers, especially her roses. In the winter when she couldn’t garden she was all about Christmas, Christmas trees and her beautiful wreaths. She was very proud of her wreaths. She made thousands over the years and also passed on her skill teaching a lot of friends and family. Christmas was very important to her and her husband, Brian. They were known to many as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Before settling down in Georgefield, Pinky was born and raised in Guysborough County. It always held a special place in her heart. A special thank you to the VON and Palliative Care. Angela you helped more than you know, We will be having a Celebration of Life at the Maitland Fire Hall on March 6th from 3-5 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford.
