Born in Sydney Cape Breton, NS on March 11,1941. Mary was the daughter of the late Agnus and Gus MacInnis. She was very proud of her parents and siblings. Mary was the kind and caring sister to her two older Brothers, Edward and Elizabeth MacInnis of Kingston ,NS, and the late Alexander(Sandy) and Kay(McKinnon) MacInnis of Sydney Cape Breton. Mary spent much of her spare time chasing her brothers to the skating rink as skating was her talent and passion. She was loving sister to her two sisters, Paula (McInnis) and Bob Belanger of Prince Edward Island and Mickey and Jeannie (McInnis) MacMullin of Saint John NB. Mary and her two sisters all studied Nursing and led successful careers. Mary was the devoted and loving wife of the late Felicien Hachey of Napan. Mary was the proud and supportive mother to her two sons, Jacques Hachey of Napan and Jean Paul Hachey of Windsor NS. Mary was proud of her grandson Matthew.
Mary started her nursing career at St. Rita’s Hospital in Sidney Cape Breton. It is during this time that she met Felicien (Phil) as a patient and later married him. In a short time, she left St. Rita’s and moved to Bathurst to worked at Bathurst Chaleur Hospital for a few years before she and Phil moved to Napan NB where they built their forever home and started their family. She spent many years working as a Community Mental Health Nurse. Mary then worked at the Hotel Dieu Hospital and was known for her caring and compassionate personality as well as for her professional work ethic. Mary then made the career transition to work at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home. She enjoyed her time getting to know her patients and made sure they received the attention and care they deserved.
She enjoyed music, dancing and watching sports. Mary was excellent cook. She encouraged her sons to be involved in 4-H. She was proud of her son’s involvement with the farm and in working in the woods with their father. Mary enjoyed her retirement by bowling, skating at the rink, and time at the camp with great friends and her siblings. She was very witty, and her sense of humor will be missed.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the lovely ladies from KRT & Associates who provided exceptional home support care. These ladies were just like family. We would also like to extend our gratitude and sincere thanks to the entire staff of Losier Hall Nursing Home for their amazing care, and kindness. Their work is appreciated.
