Mary McGivern
Jan 16, 1930 – Jul 03, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Mary McGivern,
age 92, who left us peacefully in Canmore, Alberta. She was born in Middlesborough, UK to William and Eleanor Ferguson. She was married to Joseph Stanley McGivern who preceded her in death in 2009.
As well as a homemaker, Mary worked as a nurse in Harrogate,
North Yorkshire, and a proof-reader for the Oman Observer Newspaper. She was known around her community for the beautiful cards that she made and her dominance at the bridge table. She also loved to sew, knit, embroider, her hands were rarely still. Mary was a very funny and authentic lady that had a strong effect on the people that were lucky enough to meet her.
Mary is survived by her four children Michael of Broughton, Northants, Stephen of Barbados, Jayne of Shipton Under Wychwood, Oxfordshire, Richard of Calgary AB, her six grandchildren Stephanie, Catherine, Charlie, Gabriella, Maximilian and Michael, two great grandchildren Runa & Iggy: her sister Anne of Middlesbrough, nephew Kenny and niece Julie.
Please join us celebrating her life Saturday July 23, 2022,
between 1:00 pm — 2:30pm at the Mineshaft Tavern,
808 Spring Creek Drive, Canmore AB,
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
