Mary (Emery) Miner (nee King)

Our family sadly announces, that after a short illness, Mary Miner, at age 96 passed peacefully into God’s arms on September 29, 2022.
Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Walter Miner (2005) and Roy Emery (1983).
Mary was mom to Ron Emery, Bob Emery (Pat) and Donna Boyd (Barry); step-mom to John Miner (Karen), Lynn Preston (Albert), Les Miner (Peggy – predeceased in 2012), Mark Miner (Janice); Loving grandma to Diana Baptie (nee Emery), Blair Emery (Leslie), Jason Emery, Donna Emery, Karissa Robertshaw (Adam), Laurie Henry (James), Andrew Miner, Bert Preston (Tracy), Brent Preston (Jacquie), Christina Preston (Jason Ward), Angela Krueger (Andrew), Sean Miner (Mai), Merrilees Tytler (Jim), Matthew Miner; Proud great-grandma to 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was born in Pottles Cove, Labrador in February 1926 and moved with her parents, Ethel and Herbert King, to Windsor, Newfoundland where she enjoyed family life with her 6 siblings, Gladys (MacFadyen – predeceased), Hazel (Nobes – predeceased), Florence/“Floss” (Doherty – predeceased), Elvie (Burt), Stephen King (predeceased) and Betty (Phillips). There she met Roy Emery, a soldier from Ontario who was stationed in nearby Wiseman’s Cove during World War II. They were married in Windsor, Newfoundland and moved to Ontario in 1943.
Mary lived in Peterborough and worked at General Electric while Roy served oversees during WWII. After Roy’s return they spent 40 years together in Havelock where they raised their 3 children and enjoyed a full life with their family and friends. Roy passed away in 1983.
Mary enjoyed several jobs over her years and retired from Campbellford Memorial Hospital in 1988 when she was blessed again with another great love, and married Walter Miner from Lindsay, Ontario (predeceased-2005). They lived in Peterborough and enjoyed an abundant life of travel and visits with their newly combined families.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Maple View Retirement Residence in Norwood, and most recently, to Campbellford Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion.
Friends are invited to join the family at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Havelock, on Wednesday October 26 at 1:30 pm for a graveside service, followed by a light lunch at the Havelock Legion.
