In Celebration of
Mary Kovalik
June 3, 1929 –
November 8, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the age of 93.
She is predeceased by her husband Joseph and her brothers John, Joe, Andrej and Frank. Loving mother to Anne Marie, Joe (Christina) and Johnny (Alison). Proud Baba to Julianna, Kyla and Joshua.
Mary was born in Miroslav, Slovakia and immigrated to Canada in 1949. She met her love Joseph in Toronto and was married in 1954. Mary worked tirelessly as a homemaker, supporting her husband, caring for her children and parents. She took great pride in her garden and making sure everybody was well fed. She was especially known for her pierogi and roski! Mary had a very active social life and loved spending time with friends and family. She was in a recreational bowling league until age 87, enjoyed Rumoli with the ladies, supported her church fundraising with cooking or baking or just having a coffee with a friend. She enjoyed watching sports and was an avid supporter of the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. She was the kindness and most generous of souls and will be sorely missed.
Special thank you to the staff at Cawthra Gardens Long Term Care Residence for their kindness, love and support of Mary for the past 14 months.
