In Celebration of
Mary Fournier
April 14, 1952 –
November 28, 2022
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Fournier, 70, on November 28, 2022 at Credit Valley Hospital. Beloved wife of Don, loving mother (with first husband Peter) to Jason (Meghan), Stefanie, adored grandma to Cadence, Dylan and Penelope, cherished sister to Vera and Aunt to Liza, Mark and Michael, Christopher and Suzanne. and friend to many.
Mary was born in Toronto to Ludmila and Josef Duchon who arrived in Canada from Czechoslovakia in 1951. A gifted student and Ontario scholar, Mary became a teacher at age 18. Mary’s profound kindness, her love of language, the arts, and wonderful sense of humor made her a favourite among students and staff alike. Mary was a proud and devoted mother and was thrilled to become a grandmother to Cadence, Dylan and Penelope.
Those who knew Mary knew she was a dedicated animal rights supporter and defender of all creatures, great and small. She lovingly cared for many strays and welcomed wildlife into her garden. Mary was also a lifelong lover of the arts: theatre, film, fine art and music.
Donations may be sent to The Mississauga Humane Society or the Toronto Wildlife Centre.
