On April 25, 2022, Mary Fellin of the Holland Marsh and more recently of Brookside died peacefully of old age. The family is deeply saddened by her passing. Mary was born on June 1st, 1923, in Revo, Trento, Italy. She immigrated to Canada with her two children, Carmen and Phil in 1955 to join her husband Tom who had been here since 1952. They settled in Toronto. After years of working and saving she and Tom, built a home on a farm in the Holland Marsh, where she remained until Tom’s passing in 2007.
Mary was a social butterfly and easily made friends wherever she lived or worked. She worked a variety of jobs and settled into Bajar’s Greenhouse in the Holland Marsh, where she worked to cultivate beautiful plants. She was especially proud of her green thumb. In her spare time, she knitted and sewed, tended to her many plants and gardens and socialized with her countless friends.
In addition to a busy and lively start to her life, after Tom’s passing, Mary moved to Newmarket and took her new life in stride. She quickly joined the seniors center, engaged with friends new and old, spruced up the exterior of her home with traditional Tyrolean flowerpots and the interior with countless knitted crafts.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son, Carmen and Phil, her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Michael and Simonetta, grandchildren, Alex, Christian and Murray, and great grandchild Emmet. She still has a younger brother, Narciso in Toronto, and 3 younger sisters in Italy, Madalena, Rosella and Pierina.
Visitation will be at Marshall funeral home, 10366 Yonge St. in Richmond Hill (4 lights North of Major Mackenzie) on Wednesday, April 27th from 2 to 4 pm and in the evening from 6 to 8 pm. The memorial service will be on Thursday, April 28th at 1:00 pm in the chapel. Entombment at Beechwood Cemetery.
