Obituary
Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, at the age of 86, Mary Picco of Paradise, NL. Mary was born in Harbour Grace, and after many years in Gander, retired with her husband, Pat, in Paradise, NL. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her friendships in both Gander and Paradise were very important to both her and Pat, but her children and grandchildren were what she always called her “pride and joy”. She is predeceased by husband Patrick (Pat); parents John and Elizabeth Haire; brothers Gerald, John, and Edward; sister Bride (Bridget). Leaving to mourn her son Stephen, St. John’s, and daughter Susan (Michael Reid), Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Alicia and Nicholas Reid; brother Leo Haire (Florence) of Sidney, BC and sister Irene Gear of Nanaimo, BC; plus, many nieces, nephews, and friends who all knew and loved Mary.
Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s on Wednesday June 8th, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Thursday June 9th, 2022 at 11:00am from Barrett’s Chapel. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road, St. John’s, NL next to her husband Pat. The service will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person and a link can be found on Barrett’s Website.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in Mary’s name in recognition of and thanks for the wonderful care she received there.
