Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Mary Elizabeth Coote. She sailed away on Friday July 8th, 2022 with dignity, on her terms and with immediate family by her side.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Adrian (AJ), her brother BD and sister-in-law Susan in Sydney, Australia. Her son Mark and daughter-in-law Gail, daughter Liz and son-in-law Rupert. As well as her treasured grandchildren Lilly and Henry (Coote) in Boston and Spencer, Charlotte and Davis (Hardy) in Victoria.
Mary started her life in Charlotte, North Carolina and moved to Montreal at the age of 12. She attended Westmount High School where she excelled in many sports. It was in Montreal that she met her husband and they started their journey across the county. They lived in Windsor and Calgary before finally settling in Oakville and St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. In all these places it was her wonderful smile, sense of humour and mischievous personality that attracted great friendships everywhere she went.
Family, friends, travel and sports were a few of her favourite things, especially when she could combine them all. Like a trip to Australia, for a visit with her brother and to watch the tennis in Melbourne. Or travelling to watch her grandkids compete in Portland, Boston and Victoria. She always treasured her annual “walking trips with the girls” and trips to far flung parts of the world with her husband. On these trips, she made many friends and always had a good laugh.
She had a very generous spirit and was considerate of others. She will always be loved and never forgotten.
Her wish was to be cremated and to have a Celebration of Life, or good farewell party which will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Home Suite Hope (Oakville) (www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/t/73826) would be greatly appreciated
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Elizabeth Coote November 12 1946 July 8 2022..
