Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bernie Scott who suddenly passed away on May 13, 2022.
She leaves to mourn her husband Sanday Scott and their children Charlotte, Kyle, Cole, and Sandra; grandchildren Tyrese (whom she was especially fond and very proud of), Taliyah, Azariyah, Naveiyah, Trydon, Cassia, Marcus, and Kaedence; her sister Eleanor Lambert; brother Allan Berens; adopted brother Albert Bear and also John and Howard Berens who grew up with her as brothers; sisters in law Dorothy Berens and Lauren Scott; auntie Delores Berens; numerous nieces and nephews whom she cherished and loved as her own, and many, many cousins and friends.
Bernie was born and raised in Berens River and was the baby girl of the family of 13 children. She went to school in Berens River and worked at the Berens River store. She eventually met her husband, and they moved to Hobbema, Alta for a few years. Bernie started working with CFS as a respitesupport worker once she returned to Wpg. She loved being outdoors especially driving a boat around and just hanging out with her friends. Bernadine was one of those people that would go to great lengths to help out family and friends, she had a heart of gold and always tried to be there for her family especially her close nieces and nephews. She will be very much missed by everyone that knew her personally, especially her family who will cherish the memories they had with her. Bernie had a special and unique bond with all her nieces and nephews and was very much close to Eric Berens, who will always remember “Weekend at Bernie’s” as they called their visits.
Bernie was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Charlotte Berens; brothers David, Melvin, Elijah, Jules, Norman, and Kirby Berens; her sisters Yvonne Nuga, Lila Boubard, and girl name unknown; uncles Harold McKay, Alex, Murray, and Willard Berens, and Allan Bittern; aunties Victoria Boulanger, Clementine Bittern, and Annie Bittern, many cousins and friends as well, too many to name.
