Mary Anne Vendramin Caldarelli Monday December 12th 2022

It is with profound sadness that Edwin Vendramin announces the passing of his wife Mary Anne Caldarelli Vendramin on Monday December 12, 2022. Mary Anne was the daughter of Vermiglio and Filomena Caldarelli (predeceased). She is survived by her brother Jack (Frances), brother-in law Lino Vendramin (Flora predeceased), sisters-in-law Nell Prenol (Reno predeceased), and Elgida Johnson (Jim). She was predeceased by brothers-in-law Alfred Vendramin and his wife Leah and by her brother-in-law Gino and his wife Aune. Mary Anne is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary Anne grew up in Sudbury, attended St. Albert’s Catholic School, Sudbury High School and the University of Detroit. She was in the first graduating class at Laurentian University. She was employed in the accounting department of INCO for ten years before she and Ed decided to enter the educational field. With their BA’s and BEd’s and teaching certificates from OCE both Mary Anne and Ed were hired by the Espanola Board of Education where she was the Business Director for 24 of her 25 teaching years. With other teachers she wrote curriculum to improve teaching methods and found time to review newly written text books prior to their use in the system. Mary Anne was named Bright Dawn by the Whitefish River First Nation Band for her work with Indigenous students. She also found time to teach a summer course at OCE in Toronto.
Mary Anne and Ed became world travellers, travelling to all continents by land, sea and air, visiting 134 countries, many before they were common tourist destinations. She and Ed made return visits to their favourite countries and especially to London England, her favourite city.
Leisure time was spent at their cottage on White’s Point on Manitoulin Island, especially in the winter months where she enjoyed the beautiful sunsets, scenery and quiet surroundings. She always said she had lived a charmed life doing things of which most people can only dream.
Ed will greatly miss his loving wife of 67 years, his best friend and wonderful travelling companion. He wishes to thank the staff on the Cranberry wing at Pioneer Manor for the phenomenal care they gave Mary Anne over the past two years.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
