Mary A (Aggie) Kavanagh
March 30, 1930 – January 19, 2022
Passed peacefully away on January 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, Aggie Kavanagh of Ferryland, age 91. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Walsh, her brother Mike (Josephine), her sisters, Gertie Brennan (Cyril) and Nellie Power (Frank). Leaving to mourn her devoted husband of 63 years, Phonse; her children, Brenda (Billy Hayden), Justin (Daphne), Cavell (Rudy Embury), Colleen (Russ Maher), Loyola (Joan), Barry (Jean Anne) and Cheryl (Neil O’Brien); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored, Leanne (Owen House), Blake Hayden (Ashley, Sophie and Will); Ryan Kavanagh (Meghan, Frank, Phonse and Nora), Leslie Lambe (Jimmy, Felix, Ruby and Sonny); Danielle Charron (Marc and Ava), Keith Lawlor (BobbyMcSweeney), Stefan Lawlor (Bridget, Maeve and Fiona), Andrew, Ali and Cristin Embury; Brad Maher (Emma); Peter (Simone), Shayne and Emily Kavanagh; Allison, Josh, Luke and Liam O’Brien.
Sincere thank you to Quality Home Care Service and their dedicated home care workers for their exceptional care of mom over the last six years. A most heartfelt thank you to Georgina Walsh for six of the best years of mom’s life. She loved you like one of her own. The family will be forever grateful for your friendship, love and kindness shown to mom. You truly are an angel on earth. Special thanks also to Alderwood Retirement Home for your kindness during mom’s short stay there.
Thank you also goes out to the Public Health Nurses of Ferryland and Bay Bulls, as well as Baltimore Pharmacy for always being there when needed. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tom McGarry for your years of care of mom and more recently to Dr. Melissa Angel for your care of mom since Dr. McGarry retired. The world needs more doctors like both of you.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be no visitation. There will be a private family funeral on Saturday, January 22 at 12 noon. The funeral will be livestreamed. You are, however, welcome to join us for interment at Holy Trinity Cemetery following the funeral mass, with covid restrictions in place. No flowers by request. Donations in mom’s memory can be made to the Ferryland/Calvert Cemetery Fund, Ferryland, NL, A0A 2H0.
The brightest light in our world has gone out. To the world you were a mother, but to your family, you were the world.
