MARTIN William December 2 1933 — January 10 2022

MARTIN, William
December 2, 1933 — January 10, 2022
William “Bill” Martin passed away peacefully at Glenmore Lodge, in Kelowna, B.C., on January 10, 2022.
Bill was born on December 2, 1933, in Medicine Hat, Alberta to James and Pauline. Bill was passionate about family life and will be deeply missed. He will always be remembered for his love of family, and the wonderful memories of houseboat vacations at Shuswap Lake, his winemaking, and his prepared specialty family meals. Loved ones will fondly recall the great get-togethers in Peachland, summer with the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and pets visiting, always enjoying good foods, the sun, beaches, walking, exploring new trails, fresh fruit, and reminiscing about the good old days and memories with lots of laughter. The fun of all-things-stretch-wrap, his Jeep Grand Cherokees, and above all his big generous heart.
Bill was bitten by the entrepreneurial spirit early. He owned and operated several businesses until he launched a career in real estate and insurance. Bill was an active member of the Fraser Valley real estate community and was passionate about the industry for over 23 years before retiring to the Okanagan, where he thrived for 24 years.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Catherine in 1987, and his son Wade (Joyce) Martin in 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Alicia of 28 years; six of his children, Dexter (Dawn) Martin, James (Karen) Martin, Linda Lakusta, Ward (Judy) Martin, Robert Martin, Cameron (Patty) Martin, and stepson Rudy (Eunice) Eng. He leaves behind eleven loving grandchildren, Shawnda Martin, Kaylin Martin, Tracey Martin, Casi McKernan, Kayla Lakusta, Kirstyn Robertson, Katie Omilon, Sophie Martin, Carter Martin, Ashley Eng, and Mackenzie Eng. As well as nine beautiful great-grandchildren, Nash Martin Dempierre, Max McKernan, Sam McKernan, Ember Lakusta-Bell, Fernleigh Lakusta-Bell, Elliot Robertson, Van Omilon, Claire Eileen Robertson & Frankie Marie Omilon. Bill was survived by his brother Doug (Oney) Martin.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Larry Bobyn, as well as the staff of Glenmore Lodge for their care and support.
The family is planning a private celebration of life in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Variety Club in Bill’s name.
