Martin Gosse Sheppard
March 13, 1949 – January 17, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Gosse Sheppard who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 17, 2022 after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer.
Martin is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 47 years Beverley (Gough); his daughter, Jennifer (Mark); and son, Steven (Suzanne); his grandchildren, Quinn and Heath; nephew, Mark Watson (Teresa); and their daughter, Kay; sister-in-law, Stephanie Watson and brother-in-law, Joseph Watson;as well as cousins, friends and past co-workers in Calgary and St. John’s.
Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Martin was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to travel and explore the world. A geologist by trade, Martin worked for many years with the Newfoundland provincial government at the Department of Mines and Energy with a major focus on offshore oil projects. Before retirement, Martin was an instructor at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He was passionate about his work and was proud to pass along his knowledge to the younger generations. More than anything, Martin enjoyed being with his family and many dear friends. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff of the cancer centre at the Calgary Foothills Medical Centre. Many special thanks to Dr. Jamani and Dr. Chaudry and the amazing staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the staff at Unit 57.
