Martha Pricilla Janoky 1929 2022

Martha Piroska Palvolgyl (Martha Pricilla
Janoky), age 93, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2022 at Hospice
House in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Martha was born in Budapest,
Hungary in 1929 to Janosh and Juliana Palvolgyl. She immigrated to
Canada after fleeing Hungary with her son Leslie during the 1956
Hungarian revolution. She spent a number of years in Montreal where
she married her beloved husband Attila
Janoky.
Martha was a hard worker and worked at many
jobs until she used her skill as a chef to open a restaurant in
Woodstock, NB. Eventually, she moved to Fredericton where she opened
Martha’s Kitchen, a Hungarian restaurant that was very successful
until Martha retired and the pub the Lunar Rogue opened in its place.
After her husband, Attila, passed in 1999, Martha enjoyed life at home
until she was 92. She had many good friends that visited her and were
always welcomed with open arms. Martha was known for her intelligence,
humour, and compassion. She was very fond of dogs, and her boxer Riki
was a faithful companion for many years. She was always ready to
listen to stories her friends would share and she would remind her
friends to “Live! Live! Live!”
Martha is survived by her son Leslie Egresi
(Sandra) and granddaughter Madison.
Respecting by Marha’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or funeral. Instead, a gathering will be held to honor and
remember Martha.
Final arrangements are under the care of
Bishop’s Funeral Home. Donations can be made in
her memory to Hospice House on Churchill Row, Fredericton, or the
Fredericton SPCA.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Martha Pricilla Janoky 1929 2022..
