Obituary
Martha (Langhofer) Sandy passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022, one month after her 104th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Fredrick Sandy. She was also predeceased by her sons Lyle and Bruce. She will be greatly missed by her son Duane (Blanche) Sandy and daughter Lorna (David) Foster. Martha was loved by her 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan in 1918, to parents Andrew & Katharine Langhofer. Martha was the fifth of eight children, having three sisters and four brothers. She grew up near Lethbridge, Alberta and spent much of her adult life raising her family in Dawson Creek, BC with her husband Fred. In 1975 they moved to Penticton. Fred passed away in 2001 and she continued to reside here until her passing. Martha lived a long and healthy life, living independently until January 2022. Her fondest memories include the time spent with her family and grandchildren, and her extensive travels with Fred through Canada, the US, and Mexico.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the kindness and love extended to Martha by the thoughts, words, and deeds of her many friends. Special thanks to the staff of Trinity Care Centre for the compassionate care they provided over the last few weeks.
A funeral service and luncheon will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2496 South Main Street, Penticton BC on April 4th, 2022 at 10:30AM. An interment will follow at Penticton Lakeview Cemetery.
