Obituary of Marnie Lea Boehmer
Marnie Boehmer (nee McLeod)
1957 – 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marnie Boehmer (nee McLeod) on August 19, 2022 at home with her husband by her side.
Marnie was born on November 12, 1957 in Oxbow, Saskatchewan to Cameron and Alma McLeod. She is survived by her loving husband Phil and their children Dustin, Brady and Maddie (Cale), grandchildren Boden, Jet and Remi, 4 sisters Heather (Doug), Liz ( Larry), Joan and Sherri (Mike) and many more treasured extended family and friends. (There’s just too many to list!)
Marnie moved to Winnipeg after graduating and worked for Manitoba Health Services. It was there she met her soul mate Phil and they had their first child, Dustin. They then moved to Saskatoon and had Brady and Maddie. Mom loved all things animals, especially her dogs over the years. You could always find her feeding the squirrels and birds in her yard. Her rescue dog, Suka and her handsome cat Sylas will miss her cuddles greatly.
Mom loved being with her grandchildren and had the most creative imagination. She would hide teddy bears all over the yard and take the kids to the “zoo”, pulling them around in the wagon, making what would seem ordinary to some, but extraordinary for her grandkids. She fought hard through her stem cell journey to meet her granddaughter Remi and was elated to have spent the last 18 months with her.
Mom and dad travelled south, exploring the country side and landed in Idaho in 2014; they bought a new camper, made their trek back to the prairies and used it as much as they could over the last few years. Some of moms favourite places to camp were Madge Lake, Last Mountain Lake, and Martens Lake to name a few.
Mom volunteered for the following organizations, Heart and Stroke foundation, Alzheimer’s society, Diabetes association and of course the Brier. She found much gratitude in supporting others; she always taught us to never judge anyone and always help those in need. Her living motto was “each to their own”.
Mom had the best laugh, an infectious smile and was always down for a new adventure! She was and always will be, the foundation of our family. We will continue to do our best and build on from her legacy. When you have a solid foundation, it will keep everything around it standing strong forever.
Mom requested no funeral service and instead wanted everyone to spend time with family. Go for a picnic, hike in the forest, laugh, have fun and forgive. One of her wishes were to bring awareness to stem cell research and she would ask everyone to donate blood if you’re able. She will be smiling down on everyone, drinking a beer and clam and eating nachos.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Marnie
