Our dear mother, Marlene Frances Sgarbossa (nee Felhaber) passed away peacefully June 30, 2022 at the age of 81. Born May 25, 1941, Marlene was born and raised in North Bay, ON where she continued to visit often throughout her life after moving to Toronto to raise her family. She is survived by her loving husband Santo and her children Lori Sgarbossa (Jim), Michael Sgarbossa (Liz) and Tracy Sgarbossa (Bernie), and brother Doug Felhaber (Robin). Predeceased by her Mother Margaret Felhaber, Sisters Beverly Dermann and Brenda Felhaber.
Marlene loved the simple pleasures of life, above all, family and reading. She loved to spend her time perusing bookstores for the latest authors, and we loved how easy that made her to shop for. But primarily she loved Sunday dinners, celebrations, and any chance to spend time with family.
Ma, your departure was somewhat quick, and we hope you know how much you were loved. We all wish we could have one more chance to pay a surprise visit, bring you flowers, or sneak you a butter tart, as it was always the little things that brought you pleasure. We will miss the ritual of you calling us when the weather was the least bit inclement, worrying about driving or travel and us saying “Don’t worry Ma. We’re fine.” Your legacy as the world’s most cautious prognosticator will have us thinking of you with every raincloud that appears in the sky.
We will greatly miss her humor, love and support. She has left us with an abundance of wonderful memories.
The family would like to thank the staff at Humber River Hospital and Downsview Long Term Care Facility for their wonderful care.
In lieu of Flowers, the family would be pleased with a donation to The Canadian Children’s Literacy Foundation.
