McAlpine, Mark:
Passed gracefully after a long illness on September 25, 2022 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 68.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Sheila Lynn McAlpine of 17 happy years.
He is missed by his mom, Jean Fay McAlpine, his siblings, Jana and Scott (Louise), his nephews, Matthew and Cameron and “the brother of Mark’s heart,” Jeff. Mark was predeceased by his loving father, James Alan McAlpine in 1970.
He is also missed by many extended family and friends.
Mark had retired from many years as a welder/fitter and was enjoying pursuing his own interests and hobbies. He had a great love of cars and customized several over the years. He was a great modeler with a special interest in not only cars but military vehicles as well. Mark had a passion for personal study with varied interests primarily in history and spirituality.
He was a man of great honour and strength with a huge generosity of spirit and heart. He loved simple things – to be in the company of family and friends, a bonfire, a glass of scotch, a great burger, a good conversation and to play with the many cats that were lucky enough to have a home with him over the years.
Mark’s family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome for a time of fellowship and refreshment following the service.
Mark’s family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and doctors for their care and compassion at Grand River Hospital- especially the dialysis and ICU departments.
