Marjorie “Marnie” Halldorson passed away peacefully on Sunday October 9th, 2022 on a beautifully sunny morning.
Marnie is now in the loving arms of her husband Bill Vilhjalmur Halldorsson predeceased in 2001, and her youngest daughter Helen Veronica Halldorson predeceased in 2020, and this gives the family great comfort. She is survived by two daughters Ramona Halldorson and Cheryl Davey (Wayne Davey), and her grandchildren Cynthia Davey and Vilhjalmur “Bill” Halldorson, great-granddaughters Dawn Sager and Amber Davey, and beloved great-great-grandson Chase.
In her life journey Marnie married Bill in Sudbury, ON, and later moved with their 3 daughters to raise them in Toronto, ON. They returned to their northern home community of Levack in 1987 where Marnie began a long career with Leuschen/Veteran’s as a School Bus Driver until her retirement when she was 70.
Marnie was happy and so well taken care of in the last couple of years at St Joseph’s Villa where she lived the last pages of her life doing what made her happiest knitting and crocheting, reading, playing her tablet games, socializing with her group of friends, and knitting, and knitting, and helping others with their knitting. She was very happy.
Mostly Marnie will be remembered for her incredible talent in crafting her knitting and crochet projects she made throughout her life. She was an Artist! She recently donated her inventory of Crocheted Angels to comfort the grieving at St Joseph’s Villa, and with her Sister Vi Ouimet Stamplecoski and her close friend Janice Cameron, donated little “knitted with love” hats for newborn babies to the HSN maternity and premature births ward. Her next project was to knit more baby hats, but this time for the Sudbury Midwifery group for their little newborns and the family is so moved that her friends will continue with that project and donate in her memory.
Thank You to ALL the many many wonderful Friends that Marnie had throughout her lifetime.
And thank you to all the care professionals in our community that assisted her in her times of need, and to the staff at the Dialysis dept at HSN and at St Joseph’s Villa for their comfort and their friendships. Honoring my Marnie’s wishes, there will not be a service, but together with her daughter Helen’s, they will be interred at the Maplecrest Cemetery in Dowling at a later date.
