Marion Porteous Cranston 2022

PORTEOUS, Marion (nee Cranston)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marion Porteous (nee Cranston) in her 87th year.
Beloved wife of Leslie Porteous. Mother of Lynda (Ben) and John (Karen). Grandmother of Alex (Becky). Marion was predeceased by her parents George and Audrey Cranston. Sister of Diane Wallace (Leo predeceased) and George Cranston (Sandra predeceased). Sister-in-law to Irene and Ross Allison, Clayton and Eleanor Porteous and Stan and Noel Porteous. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Marion passed peacefully at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on April 11, 2022. Marion was born and raised in Thornbury and almost 65 years ago she married and moved to Collingwood. Marion lived at the same home in the east end for almost 60 years. Marion was a lifetime volunteer with the Connaught Home and School Association and a supporter of the Contact Center for over 30 years. Marion was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Mission Circle. Marion always enjoyed the company of others and her shopping trips by bus or locally to the mall. Mom never drove and said if she needed to go somewhere she’d walk and she did. As time went by, she needed support at home and this was provided by her dedicated husband and PSW’s from Saint Elizabeth’s. Thanks to Dr Quigg, Jackie and Jenny, Dr. Lam and Rhonda, Nurses and Drs from CGMH and the numerous PSW’S for the wonderful medical care provided to Marion.
There will be no service. Arrangements are entrusted to Chatterson Funeral Home. If you wish donations can be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
