It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marion Louise Corkum, 92, of Middle LaHave on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater.
Born in Upper Kingsburg she was the daughter of the late Arthur ‘Milton’ Mosher and Maggie (Oxner) Mosher.
Active in her community she was a member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Rose Bay, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, Lunenburg, former member of the Riverview Rebekah Lodge #56, Riverport and active with fundraising for the Middle LaHave Cemetery Company.
Marion enjoyed bingo and knitting, but her devotion to her family’s happiness was her life’s work. She loved to make her family delicious holiday meals and was always insistent that everyone had seconds. When they visit, she was pleased to offer tins of her famous molasses cookies and homemade bread to take home. Marion always kept several of her candy dishes filled with an array of candies for her grandchildren and then great-grandchildren to enjoy. She loved to spoil her family and made sure no one ever left her house hungry. Her loving generosity will be dearly missed.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Stephen) Henley, Middle LaHave; son, Frank (Donna) Corkum, Dayspring; sister Margaret Creaser, Cole Harbour; grandchildren, Darrell (Jennine) Crawshaw, Kyle (Teresa) Crawshaw, Aaron (Hannah) Henley, Kevin (Amanda) Corkum and Tanya Corkum-Garber (Scott); great grandchildren, Quinn, Patrick, William, Owen, Gavin, Austin, Sophia, Liam, Emily, Hannah and Ethan.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, Gardiner, sister, Mona Greek and an infant brother, Arnold.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L Sweeney Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Middle LaHave Cemetery, Middle LaHave, Rev Tom Summers officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Middle LaHave Cemetery Company, the Lung Association of NS or a charity of your choice.
