It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marion Gail Mitchell announces her passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre on May 28th, 2022 at the age of 70.
Marion was born in Grand Falls and raised in Badger, NL. After high school, Marion attended trade school and trained to become a stenographer. At the age of 19, she accepted a job as a secretary for Gid Sacrey Ltd in Woodstock. Here she met the love of her life, Mackenzie. Together they raised a daughter and were blessed with two grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Marion loved spending time with those she loved and having a chat over a good cup of tea. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved to laugh! She had a strong faith in God and prayed daily for her family.
Marion is predeceased by her parents – Cecil and Effie Hayden; parents-in-law – Peter and Caroline Mitchell; nephew – Tyler Hayden; siblings-in-law – Ralph Mitchell, Blanche Regular, George Mitchell, Herbert Mitchell (Melba), Hilda Fudge Grigsby (Gordon), Chesley Mitchell, Flossie Taylor, Phonse Simms, and Albert Bussey.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her husband of 40 years Mackenzie Mitchell; daughter – Melissa Norman (Jonathan); granddaughters – Isla and Chloe Norman; siblings – Valma Dawe (Gilbert), Wayne Hayden, and Randy Hayden (Patsy); siblings-in-law – Woodrow Mitchell (Lillian), Sheila Simms, Melvie Bussey (Harold), Yvonne Bussey (Valance), Reg Mitchell (Jesse), Bernice Regular (Pleaman), Judy Sacrey (McKinley), Pearce Mitchell (Maxine), Rex Mitchell (Gloria), Violet Mitchell, Bertha Mitchell, Ella Mitchell, and Norman Taylor (Goldie); also aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.
Marion’s family would like to express their gratitude to the many friends and family who supported them through Marion’s illness. Your kindness will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank the palliative care team and the healthcare team who cared for Marion during her final days.
The public visitation will take place Monday, May 30, 2022 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Woodstock, NL.
The funeral service will take place Tuesday May 31, 2022 at 2 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, Woodstock, NL with Majors Neil & Delores Abbott officiating. The interment will follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Woodstock, NL.
As expressions of sympathy donations in her memory may be made to The Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.
