Marion Eleanor (Walsh)
(Miles) Sawler – 92, of Highbury, passed away on Tuesday,
September 13, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in
Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Brice and Mona (Davidson)
Walsh and stepdaughter of the late Leora (Schofield)
Walsh.
Prior to retirement,
Marion worked for various industries, including in the kitchen at
Windsor Payzant Memorial Hospital, Hostess Foods and picking apples.
She was also a member of the Melva Walkers Kidney Foundation. Marion
was a loving wife, exceptional mother and proud grandmother. She
enjoyed old sit-coms, playing card games with friends, Lexicon
puzzles, music and bingo. She loved animals, big or small, and had a
special fondness for cats.
Marion is survived by
her children, David Miles of Hantsport and Rosella Gillis of Highbury;
chosen daughter, Sandra (James) Braham of Bishopville; sisters, Maxine
(Max) Blackmore of Kentville and Eva (Roy) VanBuskirk of Greenwich;
grandchildren, Michael Miles, Edison Miles, John (Krista) Gillis,
Georgina Hiltz and Sherri Hiltz-Kane (Dana Kane); great-grandchildren,
Nicole Fougere, Cameron Miles, Violet Miles, Oron Hiltz-Kane and Louis
Miles; great-great-grandchildren, Lila and Jack Fougere and Tobby
Cole.
In addition to her
parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Leslie Frank Miles
and second husband, Edison Sawler; daughter, Donna Hiltz; sons-in-law,
Jeff Hiltz and Angus Gillis; daughter-in-law, Cindy Miles; brothers,
Ron Croft, Brice Walsh and Burt Walsh; sister, Ella Ruggles; and
brother-in-law, Vernon Ruggles.
Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service
will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 in Avonport
Baptist Church, Avonport. Pastor Eva VanBuskirk and Reverend Gary
Manthorne officiating. Interment will take place in Lower Horton
Cemetery, Grand Pre. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA-Kings
Branch, Canadian Liver Foundation or the Kidney Foundation. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
