Obituary of Marie Caley
Marie Caley (Evans-Bacon), beloved wife of the late John James Caley (2020), passed away at Bobby’s Hospice on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. Marie was born in Saint John on May 20th, 1939, to the late Robert Evans (Olive) of Montreal, and the late Marion G. (King-Evans) Maxwell of Saint John.
Marie enjoyed gardening, as well as photography. She captured photos of 74 covered bridges across the province, with her son Chuck and granddaughter Krista. In latter years she loved being a part of the north end community centre, continued to knit, crochet, craft, and loved getting caught-up with her friends and family on the phone, whether near or far.
Truly, the loves and joy of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her sons Charles Bacon of BC, Brian Bacon of Hamilton, ON, and her daughter Diane Riley of Rothesay; grandchildren Charlene Bacon of ON, Kristopher Bacon of Hamilton, ON, Brandon Bacon of Hamilton, ON, Krista Robichaud (Colin B.) of Saint John, NB, whom Marie raised, Kaitlyn Bacon, Michel Roch (Tracy) of Rothesay, NB, and Chantal Roch (Phil Dempsey) of Rothesay, NB; great-grandchildren, Dylan Robichaud of Saint John, NB, Ethan Robichaud of Saint John, NB, Ryker Roch of Saint John, NB and Rylee Roch of Saint John, NB.
Also survived by her chosen sister Myrna Thompson, chosen son Mark Magrath of ON, special cousin Elizabeth Muir, very special friend Joanie Thompson, brother-in-law Earl Rector of ON, special nephews Joe and Daniel Rector, niece Tina (Pete), and Danny.
Besides her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her son Michael Bacon (2019), infant daughter Tina Marie Bacon, sister Roberta Rector, brothers William Evens, Donald Maxwell, and Roy Maxwell.
Friends and family will be received at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, on Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, from 5pm to 8pm, where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday morning at 11am. Cremation to follow, with a Private Interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
