Marie’s Obituary
DEVEAU, Marie – Age 89, of Mavillette, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 23, 2021 in the Villa Acadienne, Meteghan. Born in Mavillette, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lucie (Saulnier) Saulnier. Marie studied at the “Ecole Superieure d’Enseignement Menager” in Saint-Jacques de Montcalm, Quebec. She worked for the N.S. Department of Agriculture inspecting homemaking departments in schools. Her work brought her to Northern and Eastern parts of Nova Scotia for a period of approximately seven years until she married and started her family. For several years she remained very active with the 4H Club as well as the Clare Figure Skating Club for which she was a founding member. She loved to travel and was excellent at planning and organizing family trips. Marie also had a passion for gardening and enjoyed spending time in her flower beds.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, William; sons, Claude (Kelly), Pinewa, Manitoba; and Guy (Lenore), Cole Harbour; daughters, Janice (the late Wayne Hunt), Saulnierville; Lise (Tom) Mann, Riverdale, PEI; brother Jean (Monique), La Villa Acadienne, Meteghan;. grandchildren, Ben, Gabrielle, Erik, Alex, Patrick, and Kayla. She was predeceased by her sisters, Loretta (the late Bernard) Saulnier; Estelle (the late Stan) Saulnier; and Lucille (George) Surette.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 21st, 2022 at 2 pm in St. Alphonse Church. Burial will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Salmon River.
