It is with the heaviest of hearts that the family of Marie Theresa (Ross) Donovan announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her family, on July 2, 2022 at the age of 92.
Born on December 28, 1929 to the late Earl Ross and Mary Monahan of Nelson, NB., she was the oldest of 3 daughters and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Joan Ludlam, Lourdes Gallivan and a twin brother George Arthur and her oldest son, Paul (Diane) in 2012.
Her sister Lourdes was her best friend in the world, and where you saw one you saw the other. They were inseparable, and Mom was truly lost when Lourdes passed in 2017. We are sure they are now, once again, planning their next shopping trip to Moncton with Tommy as the chauffeur.
Mom was an avid bowler and always looked forward to Monday evenings when she gathered with her bowling friends. Mom took great pride in her home; she loved her flowers in the summer. Mom was also a past member of the Lionnette’s and a devoted member of St. Mary’s Parish.
Mom married the love of her life, James Donovan from Newcastle and thought her time with Dad was way too short, she loved him all her life. They welcomed four children, Paul, Gail, David and Jane. Mom loved spending time with her children whether it be spending a weekend poolside in Moncton with David and his family or just out for a drive and a stop somewhere for lunch with her girls. She was content to just being around her children and extended family listening to all of us talking at once.
Left behind to grieve her is her son David (Beth) and her daughters Gail and Jane and daughter in law Diane. Grandchildren Lesley Bowes, Derrick Bowes, James Donovan, Michael Donovan and great grandson Lucian Kenny, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Miramichi Regional Hospital and especially to the palliative care nurses whose compassion and caring nature were heartfelt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Bells Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
