Obituary of Marguerite Helen Foster
Marguerite Foster
Marguerite Foster, predeceased by her husband Loinel Dale of 62 years, passed away on Saturday, March 5th 2022.
Marg leaves behind their four sons Brennan and wife Peggy, of Durham, N.C., Douglas, Salmon Arm, B.C., Matthew in Newcastle, ON, and Kyle in Vancouver, B.C. Beloved grandmother of Abigail, Allison and Andrew Foster. Marg also leaves behind two sisters, Jean Nurse of London, ON, and Bernice Ufnal of Pickering, ON, sister-in-law Carol Ashford of predeceased brother, Donald Ashford. Marg is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
After her marriage to Dale they left Canada to reside in Massachusetts where Dale’s job had taken them. For the following 23 years they moved several times throughout the US. At the age of 40, Marg enrolled at the Lakewood Community College in Minnesota where she received an Administrative Associate degree. She then worked for Century 21 for a few years. Then she returned to Canada and worked for Control Data. They lived firstly in Scarborough then to Ridgeway to a wonderful big home, again, where Dale’s job had taken him.
In 2000 Dale retired and they purchased an RV and along with their dog Homer, took a year off to visit all the US states and a few provinces in Canada, on the lookout for an ideal retirement spot. Ironically, it was the spot they checked out first, Wilmot Creek. They had their home built to suit them and had 21 years enjoying many parties in their café type/billiard recreation room. She became an ardent volunteer with the Wilmot Creek Auxiliary for 10 years and the Coordinator of the Ladies 8 Ball League for 12 years. The people of Wilmot Creek are very much in their hearts.
Marg was also an excellent gardener and inherited her mother’s love of the land. She took up painting landscapes in 1964 and had many beautiful pictures in her home. Also, Marg and Dale were formidable bridge players. They played in the Older Adult Centre in Bowmanville, the Wheelhouse and also many weekends with her sister Bea and partner Frans.
Five years ago, their son Matthew moved in with them and has been instrumental in helping both Marg and Dale get the best of care one could ask for.
Donations in Marg’s memory may be made to the Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre. Marg has been a supportive member of this organization for several years. Arrangements can be made through Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home Bowmanville. She will be cremated and rest in St. James Cemetery in Orillia, along with Dale.
