Obituary
Margaret “Anne” Dalgliesh (née Pineger) died peacefully at Waters Edge, North Bay, on March 6, 2022 in her 85th year, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.
Anne was born on August 5, 1937 in Kirkland Lake to Reginald and Dorothy Pinegar (nee Collins). Anne came to North Bay to pursue a nursing career. She attended St. Joseph’s General Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 1959. She started her nursing career with John’s Manville and later worked as a Head Nurse on floors 2CD at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital until her retirement. She married Gene Dalgliesh in 1960. They raised four red-headed children together in their house on Roy Drive.
She is preceded in death by her husband Douglas Gene. Anne is survived by her children; Nancy Blomquist (Joel), Leigh Dalgliesh (Pam), Jo Anne Dalgliesh and Andrew Dalgliesh (Julie). Grandma Anne was especially proud of her three grandchildren; Sydney Blomquist and Parker & Ben Dalgliesh. Also missed by sister Nancy Cornwell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Anne loved the many friendships she and Gene cultivated and maintained over the years as members of the Twin Seas Caravan Club. They travelled all over Canada and the US and Anne was famous for her wine and cheese parties that started as soon as their RV was parked. Anne also hosted many Christmas brunches for staff of the Psychiatric Hospital, and loved decorating the house for the Christmas season. She enjoyed a good meal out with family or with Rose, Marie and Tina at Joey’s Only.
Aside from running after four kids and a husband and working full-time shifts, Anne made time for ceramics classes and folk art painting. One secret to their successful marriage was that Anne painted inside and Gene did woodworking outside in the garage.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Waters Edge, including the front office, door screeners, dietary staff, environmental services, and especially all of the wonderful caring staff of Pier 1. Anne previously enjoyed many happy years at The Empire. We would especially like to thank Anne’s companion aid Belva, for her devotion and friendship over the last 7 years.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Final resting place will be next to her husband at All Saints Mausoleum. Arrangements are entrusted to Hillside Funeral Services. Condolences can be sent via Hillside. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Alzheimer’s Society.
