Obituary of Margaret “Peggy” Hay
With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Margaret “Peg” Hay (nee McWhirter) on Monday, January 31, 2022. Peggy was predeceased by our Dad, John George Hay (2004), brothers Gordon McWhirter and Don McWhirter and sister Jan McWhirter. Peggy is survived by 4 children Judy Arnold, Nancy Hay, John Hay (Marilyn), Mary Smith (Derek), 4 grandchildren David Arnold (Kathy), Katherine Speirs (Ryan Giffen), Amanda Hartung (Bryon), Geoff Smith (Grace) and 8 great-grandchildren Cooper, Jaden, Sage, Nolan, Zac, Elora, Hudson and Maddie.
Peg was a lifetime resident of Owen Sound and an active member of Division Street United Church. She was the first female to become a church elder. She enjoyed curling, playing bridge and golfing. She loved spending time with her family and circle of friends.
We want to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the staff on 2 south at Lee Manor.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in May.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce, the Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated and can be made through the Funeral Home.
Arrangements entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519) 376-7492.
