A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, Middleton, NS. Father John MacPherson officiating.
O’Keefe, Margaret Marie of Middleton / Glace Bay ~ it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Margaret Marie O’Keefe. She passed away peacefully at the Veterans Wing of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton, on 31 December 2021, at the age of 95, with her family by her side. Originally from Glace Bay, she was living with her daughter Lynne for the past four years in Middleton, NS. Margie was predeceased by John, her loving husband of 62 years; and brothers and sisters, John, Emma, Edward, Monica and Walter. She is survived by sister, Mary and brother, Hugh. She is also survived by her two children, Kevin (Lorraine), Ottawa, ON and Lynne (David), Middleton, NS. Grammy will be lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren, Michael (Nelia), Ottawa, ON, Laurie (Colin), Airdrie, Alta, David, Inuvik, NWT and Natalie (Adam), Middleton, NS and her five great grandchildren, Lucas, Kevin, Blake, Alana and John. She is also mourned by her two sisters-in-law, Marie McGean, Waltham, Mass and Jane Moffatt, Guelph, ON with whom she shared nightly phone calls. She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church in Middleton, NS with final interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Glace Bay, NS. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
