Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret (Margot) Emily Barnett (nee Maher) sadly announce her passing on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022 at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital at the age of 88 years.
Margot was predeceased by her loving husband Ronald Sinclair Barnett (2008) and survived by her children Peter (Linda) Barnett and Sheriden Barnett. A dear sister of George (Harry and Teddy) Maher and Pamela Maher. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Alexander, Matthew, and Christopher Barnett & Jose Miguel (Zemi) Barnett Camoes Quina. Margot will be sadly missed by her common law partner Gerry Heywood.
Margot was born in Belfast, grew up during WWII in the UK, met her husband Ron in London, emigrating to Canada in the late 1960’s. Her parents, George and Emily Maher, and her sister Pamela, followed the couple soon after.
As the founder and President of the College of Business Training and New Skills Vocational Schools, with campuses throughout Ontario, Margot was a successful entrepreneur and enabled countless women from diverse backgrounds to realize their educational and career goals, as Personal Support Workers, Legal and Dental Assistants, etc.
She was an avid English gardener, a wonderful cook and constant hostess, and will be remembered by all who knew her as an elegant, intelligent, and vibrant lady. Her happiest place as a child was on the beach in Sandymount, on the outskirts of Dublin, Ireland and we do hope she is beachside now, dipping her toes in and in good company. Rest in Peace Margot. You will be greatly missed.
In keeping with Margot’s wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced to her friends and family.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to the “George Knudson Memorial Fellowship Fund” and to Campbellford Hospital Foundation on behalf of the Barnett family.
